I love how you make collective sense out of different posts. Thanks for including me. And on this : “just maybe, now is the time to really get to work”….it most definitely is! ✊
Thank you Amanda! And are you kidding me your post was basically a compilation of a lot of my thoughts on what we as filmmakers need to be doing right now! It was so well done and necessary! Yeah I’m excited to see what these tangible next steps look like…
Taylor: A brilliant commentary on the possibilities of filmmaking and its relation to the broader culture. It's only by understanding what has come before (via education) that we can envision what can be and bring it to life. Just as novelists and songwriters have explored the personal impact of societal change, political upheaval, and cultural friction, filmmakers have the power to turn storytelling into something more than entertainment (as necessary as that is). Films can be both engrossing and enlightening, but first they have to be created. How to do that in the age of AI and audience fragmentation is the challenge.
Loved this one, Taylor. It crystallizes a lot of my feelings on AI and the coming tech revolution in storytelling.
We mustn’t forget why we’re here, and we must experience cognitive friction in order to protect our minds from decline - both individually and as a collective.
Thank you Jon! I’m so happy to hear it resonated with you in this way and I’m excited to continue the conversation! And yes. we absolutely need some cognitive friction in our lives right about now.
Another fantastic post Taylor. It's feels trite to say you are performing a great service but I find both the form and content of your posts both inspiring and useful. You're invaluable to the film stack community. I wish I had more time myself to immerse myself in all the challenges and ideas that are being forwarded. In an up coming post I'm going to write about some of this comment in more depth on what you and other FilmStack writers are doing.
